Christy has an extensive volunteerism background that started at age 12 in a local nursing home. Over the years she designed and delivered special educational programs at schools and businesses, and organized and ran fundraising and educating efforts such as the Elmvale Water Festival, explained PIPEDA requirements for non-profits at Georgian College Barrie, and designed and taught equine safety courses for the YMCA. She formed and runs a non profit organization (Integrated Community Assistance Network – ICAN) to meet needs with resources. Professionally, the mother of four started up and ran two radio news departments, broadcast news, produced a community newspaper and currently acts as a freelance photojournalist, writer and editor. Journeying life with PTSD has enabled Christy to connect on many levels with others who are similarly pursuing the most beneficial state of mind in the presence of emotional challenges.
